first and foremost… PROPOSITION 8 OVERTURNED, HOORAY!!!!!! EQUAL RIGHTS REGARDLESS OF SEXUALITY!

no smiley face today, i know, why did i test when i got a positive on yesterday, i don’t know, maybe i just like seeing a positive test.  either way, we did the deed yesterday and will again tonight.  my ovaries have felt like fucking grapefruits the past couple of days, if i didn’t know better, i would think i was on fsh.

we are leaving for montana in TWO DAYS.  i’m not terribly nervous but i am a little worried that i will forget something and also worried that louise will cry on the plane.  soooooo excited to see my friends and family though.

aaaaaand lastly, we drove two hours to marshall michigan today to drop off donations for the volunteers cleaning up the oil spill.  did i mention the oil spill before? i don’t think i did, yeah, an enbridge pipeline broke and leaked over 800,000 gallons of oil into a creek, which flows into the kalamazoo river, which flows into lake michigan.  awesome.  so far they have been able to prevent the oil from reaching the lake with booms and dams, let’s hope it stays that way, fingers crossed.  anyway, we brought a large dog crate and towels to help clean off the animals and bug spray and gatorade for the volunteers that are trying to save the animals.

this is a mallard duck from the spill here:

go ovaries go!!!! good luck traveling!!

ugh that is so sad :( heartbreaking :(

  2. Hoping this is it for you. Wouldn’t that be nice? After all that heartache to get Louise, to get the second baby so nice and simply?

The mallard. . . that is just beyond sad. Sigh. Why isn’t this getting the same type of press the BP spill did?!

it would be totally nuts if i got pregnant the old fashioned way wouldn’t it? i’m not counting on it, that’s why we’re starting now, i’m expecting to need the re again and when a year since louise was born rolls around i don’t want my ob to tell me to try naturally for a few cycles first, i want to be able to say, “already did, ready for the re!!”

regarding the oil spill, the thing is, there are oil spills all over the place all the time, like there was a spill in alaska in may, did you hear about that one? and in july there was a spill in china, nigeria has had a whopping TEN spills in the last two years, we just don’t hear about them. in 1989 exxon valdeez spilled 11 million gallons of oil into the prince william sound in alaska, the spill received a ridiculous amount of press, but spills in uzbekistan (1992) and arabia (1980) that released 80 million gallons each received almost no press.

  4. Can’t wait to hear how your trip to Montana goes! We’re flying with Drake next month so I’m sure you’ll have some great tips for me. ;-)

  5. I see that you’ve been flying with Louise. I just blogged about our own flying experience with Bear – NOT FUN! Hopefully, yours was a lot better!

The oil spill sounds (and looks) horrible. You would think that post-BP, the news media would be all over every new spill. How soon we forget…so sad.
